Metal Braces
Metal braces are the most popular type of braces. They are
made of a high grade stainless steel. Metal braces today are
smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive. Most adolescents
prefer this type as colored elastic ties are used with these.
In-Oviation
The In-Oviation bracket utilizes sliding door design known as "self-ligation".
This technology allows the wire to slide back and forth within the
bracket, reducing friction and increasing comfort. As a result,
treatment time is reduced and fewer adjustment appointments are
necessary. No elastic or steel ties are used with In-Oviation
brackets.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are made of a tooth-colored porcelain material.
They are most popular with adult patient, due to their attractive
esthetic nature. The main drawback to ceramic braces is that they
are somewhat more brittle and can therefore be somewhat fragile.
Gold Braces
Gold braces are stainless steel braces coated with 24-karat
gold. They are popular with patients of all ages. The main drawback
to gold braces can be a loss of the gold-plating.
